One downside of vintage bathroom fixtures is that when part -- like toilet lids -- break, replacements are so difficult to find. But one California company specializes in salvaging vintage lids from 1925 to 1995. The lid pictured is representative of the wide variety of sizes, styles and colors in stock. The company also offers a "lid search service." You provide an etching of your old lid, or if it's missing, a tracing of the toilet tank and a color sample. They search for a lid for you. Lid prices range from $99 to $199 (September 2004).
